The ARCA Annual Conference: 3-4 May 2011, Knuston Hall
Knuston Hall in Northamptonshire will be hosting the 1st Annual Conference for “the new ARCA” 3-4 May. This 2 day event welcomes participating members to share ideas, take part in workshops and agree new directions for ARCA, an association dedicated to promoting and supporting providers of informal residential education and leisure breaks in the UK since the early 1980’s.
Delegates can stay overnight, or opt to take part in one or both days of the event. The 2011 annual ARCA Conference marks a significant change in the association’s membership structure and the launch of their new website.
Recognising the wide range of independent providers now providing quality leisure learning within the country, the association have radically reduced their joining fee and now welcome independents as well as established colleges and established lifelong learning venues.
Richard Brinton, Principal at Hawkwood College and current ARCA Vice-Chairman explains “The ARCA committee has been very dedicated to supporting and promoting lifelong learning in the UK for several years. In recent times, many colleges have been forced to close due to cuts in state funding and other economic challenges. ARCA hopes that the provision of quality informal courses and leisure learning can continue in the UK – in unusual or smaller venues as well as larger or purpose built educational centres. We know there are many fabulous course providers working around the country. ARCA is here to bring them together and help promote what they do. I look forward to welcoming many new faces to Knuston Hall next month – hopefully we will work together and generate a new awareness of residential learning opportunities for adults in this country, and the great benefits that they can bring.”
The new membership details are available from the secretary Janet Dann – email enquiries@arca.uk.net.
Rates are reduced by £200 for year one and offering many new promotional benefits and no obligation to renew.
