ARCA membership swings to a new tune!
ARCA, the association for short information learning breaks in the UK, has recently welcomed 5 new independent course providers to its membership.
Formerly the Adult Residential Colleges Association, ARCA recently updated its membership terms and now brings together all providers of residential quality short courses and leisure learning breaks in the UK.
Course providers joining ARCA benefit from networking, marketing and training opportunities, maintaining the standard and availability of residential “adult education” available to the general public.
Recent new members include Guitar Retreats, Arts in Residence and Dan Evans, professional musicians and highly experienced tutors offering short musical breaks across a wide range of age groups and locations throughout the UK.
UK residential learning opportunities have changed considerably in the past few years; many local authorities have been forced to restrict spending which has led to a general increase in privately funded ‘adult education’ providers. This, in turn, has led to a wider range of course subjects but also a variation in the quality of tuition on offer.
ARCA Vice Chairman Richard Brinton explains “ARCA is the only association of its kind working within the leisure learning sector. It serves both its members and potential students by only accepting and promoting those providers that meet specific criteria”. He continues “For anyone interested in joining a leisure learning course, the ARCA logo indicates you will find a residential venue with comfortable accommodation, high quality course delivery, good food and all inclusive very reasonable pricing with no hidden extras.”
